Agriturismo Paglialonga

L’agriturismo PagliaLonga nasce dalla ristrutturazione di un antico essiccatoio di tabacco degli anni ’20, da cui è stata ricavata la struttura del ristorante e delle stanze. Situato all’interno di un’azienda agricola che si espande su circa 10 ettari di terreno, utilizzati per produzioni di ortaggi, frutta, piante aromatiche ed officinali certificate in bio. I nostri prodotti vengono utilizzati all’interno del ristorante e nel laboratorio di trasformazione, che produce conserve come passate di pomodoro, marmellate, sott’oli e sott’aceti.
All’interno dell’azienda si trovano anche animali da fattoria quali conigli, galline, anatre, capre, pecore, maiali neri, tutti allevati a terra con abbondante spazio per scorrazzare, e nutriti principalmente con produzioni proprie.
Si può prenotare altre attività a pagamento che forniamo in struttura, come laboratori di saponificazione, cucina tipica e fattoria didattica.
Ha una gestione separata, ma si può in oltre trovare un maneggio all’interno del corpo aziendale. I cavalli sono liberamente visitabili da terra, ma in caso d’interesse per le attività del maneggio troverete il numero nella sezione contatti.

Situata nel territorio in agro di Bisignano sulle sponde del fiume Crati, era un terreno per la gran parte paludoso ricco di selvaggina, utilizzata come riserva di caccia e l’allevamento allo stato brado di una razza di cavalli di antiche tradizioni. Finché negli anni ’20 mio nonno Giovanni Boscarelli iniziò a bonificarne i terreni rendendoli agricoli. In questo periodo furono costruiti la prima casa colonica ed il capannone, attuale struttura del ristorante e delle stanze, adibito fino agli anni ’60 come essiccatoio di tabacco ed in seguito utilizzato anche come stalla e magazzino agricolo.

Mio padre Nino Boscarelli, continuando l’opera di Giovanni, negli anni ’50 struttura un’azienda moderna con indirizzo agricolo zootecnico portando avanti la tradizione di famiglia legata all’allevamento del cavallo calabrese. Ancora oggi il cavallo è l’aspetto più caratterizzante di PagliaLonga testimoniando una tradizione secolare della famiglia Boscarelli (dal XV sec.) e quella millenaria del territorio di Bisignano.

Sul finire degli anni ’60 crea un impianto per l’addestramento dei puledri che ha aggregato gli allevatori e gli appassionati della provincia di Cosenza. Nel 1980 nasce così il Circolo Ippico dell’Arcione, oggi CIDA-PagliaLonga, il primo delle associazioni calabresi che organizza manifestazioni allevatoriali e sportive di livello nazionale.

Con queste premesse è stato naturale per me ed i miei fratelli, dare vita all’azienda agrituristica nel 2000.

The PagliaLonga farmhouse was born from the renovation of an ancient tobacco dryer from the 1920s, from which the restaurant and rooms were created. Located within an agricultural company that extends over approximately 10 hectares of land, used for the production of certified organic vegetables, fruit, aromatic and medicinal plants. Our products are used inside the restaurant and in the processing laboratory, which produces preserves such as tomato purees, jams, pickles in oil and vinegar.
Inside the company there are also farm animals such as rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, black pigs, all raised on the ground with plenty of space to run around, and fed mainly with their own produce.
You can book other paid activities that we provide in the facility, such as soap making workshops, typical cuisine and educational farm.
It has a separate management, but you can also find a riding stable within the corporate body. The horses can be freely visited from the ground, but if you are interested in the riding school’s activities you will find the number in the contact section.

Located in the rural area of Bisignano on the banks of the Crati river, it was mostly marshy land rich in game, used as a hunting reserve and the wild breeding of a breed of horses with ancient traditions. Until in the 1920s my grandfather Giovanni Boscarelli began to reclaim the land and make it agricultural. In this period, the first farmhouse and the shed were built, the current structure of the restaurant and rooms, used until the 1960s as a tobacco dryer and later also used as a stable and agricultural warehouse.

My father Nino Boscarelli, continuing Giovanni’s work, in the 1950s set up a modern company with an agricultural and zootechnical focus, carrying on the family tradition linked to the breeding of Calabrian horses. Even today the horse is the most characterizing aspect of PagliaLonga, bearing witness to a centuries-old tradition of the Boscarelli family (since the 15th century) and the thousand-year-old tradition of the Bisignano area.

At the end of the 1960s he created a facility for training foals which brought together breeders and enthusiasts from the province of Cosenza. Thus, the Circolo Ippico dell’Arcione, today CIDA-PagliaLonga, was born in 1980, the first of the Calabrian associations to organize breeding and sporting events at a national level.

With these premises it was natural for me and my brothers to start the agritourism company in 2000.
